What’s better than sewing? Sewing with purpose!
After hearing about the organization Quilts for Kids (www.quiltsforkids.org) online message board, I couldn’t wait to sign up to volunteer. Check out this mission statement (lifted directly from the website):
MISSION STATEMENT: Transforming discontinued, unwanted and other fabrics into patchwork quilts that comfort children with life-threatening illnesses and children of abuse.
They send a complete kit with fabric and instructions, and all you do is kick back, follow the directions, and sew.
This was an awesome experience. I’m not really nutso about quilting, but having the part I hate done (cutting) and working on something a manageable size made this project a breeze.
