Today, I decided to attempt to get in a 30 minute run during lunch–I’m on a beautiful campus, a sunshine-y hour for lunch, and have access to a private bathroom with a shower. I should have started doing this years ago, right?
Things I learned:
Do not gossip with coworkers for the first 10 min. of your lunch, especially when you need to teach at 1pm. You will spend your whole run freaking out about getting back on time.
Bring clean underwear. I cannot stress this enough.
Running commando was an interesting experience. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it.
I work in a beautiful, unique place. Vineyards! Mountains! Baby sheep! I got to see it all.
Running after 9 days of not running (especially when I am feeling rushed for time and are really pushing it) is HARD!!!
I did not look like a hot, sweaty mess for the rest of the day. Yay!!!
Soup in a coffee mug is a subtle way to finish eating your lunch while getting back to work.
Mostly, I am thankful for today’s outfit (this is the exact outfit, but from Halloween. Apparently, I wear the same garment forms every. single. day., which was honored by a student dressing as my doppelgänger. I’m on the right.). It was perfect for cooling down afterward.
I think I’ll start getting out there regularly. Do you run during the workday? Any tips are welcome!
I had a post on this subject. I am super paranoid when I run during lunch. I feel like I’m going to get a call or email any second that I must respond to. I guess it all depends on the job you have. It’s too stressful for me. lol
Awesome–i’ll look for your post!
That’s one of the great things about my job–we close from 12 – 1, and there is no expectation for working over that time without a 24 hour notice. Small favors:)
I always feel like I’m going to be late when I run at lunch and I usually am..lol I must have a hair tie and wipes and deodarant. If I’m missing any of those then its not happening.
