For Shame

I got a text last night from someone in my running group asking if I wanted to join in on a 5 am run.

Want to? No. Will I be there smiling? You bet.

Then I woke up at 5:37.

I feel terrible.

So now I off for a quick 3 miles, half in the dark (hope I don’t get scandalized. I hate running alone before the sun is completely up.)

But the little one crawled unto bed with me. Small consolation.

I still feel awful.

My poor puppy, that’s who.

Last week the vet diagnosed her with ringworm and gave us an anti-fungal shampoo for her. So after I get home from the gym, the little one gets a bath and gives me this look the whole time. Poor thing has to sit with that shampoo on her for 15 minutes.

The redeeming part? The post bath victory walk. No matter how much I piss her off by making her sit in the tub, she still goes crazy when she sees one of us reach for that leash. A super energetic walk around the neighborhood, come home to a treat, and then an afternoon of laziness.

Having a dog is so awesome. Who doesn’t love someone who goes ape every time you come home, even if you’ve only run out to get the mail? I wish I had known that sooner in life.

Feet, meet ground. Start running.

First–a very busy semester.

Then–a 3 week push to get a ton of dresses (21!) and appointments (all but 2 on the road!).

THEN–a bachelorette “weekend” I wish I had know that committing to picking people up at the airport meant a Thursday through Tuesday committment for the weekend. Six days is not a weekend, kids. Cest le vie. I got to see my sister, which was worth it.

Finally hosting my aunt and uncle overnight for a few days and the best damn cocktail hour this side of the Rockies. (A visit sandwhiched by a 4.5 miler on Sunday and a particularily tough spin class on the other side)

Mix in one mega rest day, and I finally woke up this morning feeling like myself. A lot of stress gone, a great spin/powersculpt class this morning, a clean house, and now time to take my puppy to the park. Look how excited she is!!

Two hours later, I’m back to attack these garments for a client:

Maybe I’ll even see some progress on the roof.

Either way, I’m back. Let the games begin.
